ABOUT ABOUT
Callanwolde Fine Arts Center and the Atlanta Chapter American Theatre Organ Society present an evening that takes you back to the silent movie era, with live music played on the historic Aeolian Pipe Organ in the 1920's Gothic-Tudor Callanwolde mansion. The film is “Pandora’s Box”, a great silent film from 1929 starring the iconic Louise Brooks and directed by G.W. Pabst. This groundbreaking and steamy thriller follows the vampy Lulu on her destructive path through Berlin to her ultimate end. It has been described as "bold for the way it featured a strong, decisive female character, and innovative for the way it broke down stereotypes and barriers". Pandora's Box is perennially on the short list of great silent films and was made at the beginning of the talk era. Ron Carter, silent film accompanist and Callanwolde House Organist, will accompany the film on Callanwolde's 60 rank Aeolian organ using the instrument as a symphony orchestra! Tickets: $10 advance purchase online; $13 at the door. Parking is free and on-site. The event will be held in the mansion's Great Hall.
